Do window companies offer free in-home consultations?

Yes, most reputable window companies in Ottawa offer free in-home consultations as a standard service to help homeowners assess their needs and provide accurate estimates.

Free consultations typically include a thorough assessment of your existing windows and doors, measurements of all openings, evaluation of any structural considerations, and discussion of your energy efficiency goals and budget. The consultant will examine the condition of your current frames, check for air leaks, and identify any moisture or insulation issues that need addressing during replacement.

During an Ottawa consultation, experienced installers will also consider our local climate factors - like our cold winters and temperature swings - to recommend appropriate products. They'll explain the benefits of triple-pane windows for our Climate Zone 6 conditions and discuss ENERGY STAR requirements that can qualify you for rebates through programs like Canada Greener Homes.

The consultation process allows you to see product samples, understand different frame materials (vinyl, fiberglass, wood), and get detailed written estimates. Professional companies will never pressure you to sign immediately and will provide comprehensive quotes that break down materials, labor, and any additional work needed.

Most established window companies view the free consultation as an investment in building trust with potential customers. It allows them to properly assess the scope of work, identify any challenges, and provide accurate pricing rather than rough estimates over the phone.

Most window companies do offer them, and you can line one up through Ottawa Window Pros at no cost and with no obligation. This ensures you get expert advice tailored to your specific home and needs.
